How strange that the next game would be against Aston Villa as it is this season.
Just checked the result for that Villa game. We won 4-1. Nice
4-1 you say? TH12 hat-trick coming up methinks!
School got in the way of watching this replay…but the previous Saturday was also a nail biter with Bedford unlucky not to win then. Oh my, we weren’t very good in the late 1950s. Come to that we weren’t much good for most of the 1960s either.

And the coming weeks and months will prove your assertion about the 1960s – the early part at least – to be entirely correct.
Being Bedford born and bred my Dad went to both games against Bedford….ask him or any of his mates and they still say the Eagles beat Arsenal that day.
I think fortune favoured us quite a bit that match.
In 1964 Bedford beat Newcastle 1-0 at St James Park in the FA Cup 3rd round and that is very rarely mentioned!!!
