Arsenal On This Day, 5th February 1929

Sir Henry Norris’ involvement with Arsenal was seismic, changing the club beyond recognition. An excellent account of his life can be found here. This is the first day of his libel action against The Football Association as reported in The Times and Manchester Guardian.

In 1927, the Football Association had launched an Inquiry into finances of Arsenal. Essentially, Norris was accused of making money out of the club. That under the rules of The FA at the time was forbidden.
