European Glory For Arsenal On This Day, 12th April 1994

Arsenal had until recent times a perfect record in european semi-finals. Not that there had been many mind you but there was a decent roll-call of opponents; Ajax 1970, Juventus 1980 and to add to that, Paris St Germain in 1994.

Ian Wright’s goal in the Parc des Princes had given Arsenal the advantage even if David Ginola’s equaliser just after half-time had foiled an away win. The second leg saw Arsenal take the lead and stifle the muted Parisian attack. A great pun in the report over the part played by PSG goalkeeper Bernard Lama.
