Zaragoza Sink Arsenal On This Day, 10th May 1995

Remember this date, little good has come on it so far in the history of Arsenal Football Club. This is marginally the lesser of two evils.

Twelve months on from beating Parma, Arsenal had survived the dismissal of George Graham to return to the European Cup Winners Cup final. In the Parisian sun at the Parc des Princes, they faced Spanish side, Real Zaragoza. Despite being overwhelming favourites, Arsenal put in a poor performance although it must be said that Zaragoza were not much better.

Juan Esnaider opened the scoring but Arsenal levelled through a scrappy goal from John Hartson before one of the most gut-wrenching moments I have ever experienced during a football match. That goal from Him.
