Sir Henry Norris is man writ large across the history of Arsenal Football Club. It is impossible to do justice to his story in a short space of time but as with all powerful men, his story is complex and impossible to take at face value. We have already seen one of his many libel actions here and here. More of his involvement at the club is coming to light with the AISA Historical Society’s pamphlet, “From Plumstead to Highbury” and now in the new book, “Woolwich Arsenal: the club that changed football”. Apologies for the gratuitous plug once more but having started reading the book at the weekend, it is apparent it will be considered the definitive work on the club’s early years.
