Frank McLintock Scores Twice Against Arsenal On This Day, 19th September 1964

This match was almost a farewell from the future Arsenal captain to his then employers, Leicester City. He had made his debut almost five years to the day previously against Blackpool and went onto play 168 games for The Foxes, this match being number 165. He scored on his final Leicester appearance, against West Bromwich Albion but less than a month after this brace, he was a resident of north London.

  1. What fascinates me is that within the first 8 games of this season, we’d missed half a dozen consecutive penalties!
Anyone know who was missing ’em?
I do recall that in the 1987/88 season, we missed 5 in a row, but they were over a six month period rather than in VERY quick succession.
