Cesc Fábregas Becomes Arsenal’s Youngest First XI Player On This Day, 28th October 2003

Arsène has long used the League Cup in its various guises to blood young players and on this night, Cesc Fábregas at the age of 16 years and 177 days, became the youngest to play for Arsenal in a competitive match.

An interesting quartet in the final piece on this night is below, highlighting the pitfalls and how much of a risk young players are although arguably two out of four is not a bad investment in young players. Interestingly, the duo which made the grade at the highest level were those bought from other clubs.
