Arsenal Lose By The Odd Goal In Nine On This Day, 28th December 1935

Arsenal were chasing their fourth successive league title in the 1935-36 season. A win over Liverpool on Christmas Day had seen them rise to second in the table. That was to be the peak as a defeat at home in the return match at Highbury on Boxing Day saw them slip to fourth. This was the second in a four match winless run which undermined their title ambitions, hopes which were extinguished with a run through March and into early April of five draws and two defeats.
