Arsenal Crash At Roker Park On This Day, 9th April 1927

Ahead of the FA Cup final, Arsenal were not in the best of form. According to reports, supporters were concerned by the run of six consecutive defeats of which this was the last. It wasn’t the heaviest either, West Ham had put seven past Arsenal at Upton Park a month earlier.

Such was the perversity of Arsenal’s form, they promptly won six of the remaining eight games in this season. One of those defeats was at the hands of Cardiff in the final. Ironically, Arsenal had won their three games in the eight days leading up to that match.
