Arsenal Look To Insure Their Success On This Day, 29th April 1936

The trophies wouldn’t stop coming. Or so it seemed. Having won the FA Cup in 1930, the Football League title in 1930-31, 1932-33, 1933-34, 1934-35 and the FA Cup once again in 1935, little wonder that Arsenal wanted to protect their prized assets against unforeseen events.

The insurance policy values seem low in today’s money (£8,000 is the equivalent of £2.5m today). England played two matches, losing to Austria (1 – 2) and Belgium (2 – 3).

An interesting note that George Allison took the oppportunity to use the national press to thank supporters for their goodwill and congratulations for the FA Cup win.
