Arsenal Take Their Revenge On Leeds On This Day, 7th May 1968

Two months previously, Don Revie and his men had defeated Arsenal 1 – 0 at Wembley in the League Cup Final. It was Arsenal’s first final in more than a decade but signalled the start of the success that was to come the club’s way once more.

A slow puncture is how this win can best be described. Revie’s men for all of their dominance of English football at the time ended with what could be considered a poor trophy haul overall. They needed to win this game and were still hoping for other results to go their way afterwards in order to become Champions. As it was they finished fourth, Arsenal ninth.
